Overview

The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase Atelier Edition is an extraordinarily spacious special edition SUV. It includes a number of unique features and finishes created for drivers who demand unrivalled interior and exterior design.

The extension of the Bentayga’s standard wheelbase provides 180mm more rear legroom than the original Bentayga, offering the most comfortable passenger experience possible. But it is the styling of this vehicle that really makes it stand out. As well as exclusive wheels and ‘Atelier Edition’ badging, this vehicle features six truly beautiful new colour schemes, unavailable in any other Bentley (with the exception of the Bentayga Atelier Edition, which you can learn more about here).

Design

Bentley’s designers have used careful placement of colour to ensure that, from viewing the exterior of the vehicle to stepping inside and embarking on your journey, you will experience a truly seamless colour scheme.

It all begins outside, where the bright chrome vertical vanes of the front grille catch your eye immediately, with a Hallmark satin matrix grille directly behind them. Below that sit bright chrome lower grilles and satin bumper valances. Moving around to the side of the car, you will see the stunning 22” 10-spoke wheels, which have been treated with an exclusive new finish that combines bright machined faces with Tungsten satin pockets. This finish is also used on the wing vents, both of which bear the text ‘Atelier Edition’ – while the word ‘Atelier’ can be seen in the light show projected onto the ground by the Animated Welcome Lamps, completing a flawless exterior experience.

Stepping inside, you will notice that the illuminated treadplates are also emblazoned with the words, ‘Atelier Edition’. But the star of the show is the use of colour inside the cabin. While you can choose any primary hide colour for the seats, the secondary hide colour can be chosen from a range of six, each of which matches one of the recommended exterior colours. This colour is also used on the veneered surfaces of the centre console and the picnic tables in the rear. You will even see it used on parts of the interior that are not normally coloured in a Bentley, such as the trims that surround each veneered panel, which are normally finished in bright chrome. The result is a truly stunning cabin, with a colour layout never seen in a Bentley before.

The upholstery features an exquisite variation on Bentley’s luxurious Harmony Diamond Quilt, with a unique contrast stitching pattern designed to outline and emphasise the large diamond shapes in the pattern. Contrast stitching and piping add a further dimension to this opulent interior, while tags attached to the piping bear the words, ‘Atelier Edition’.



Performance

The Bentayga EWB Atelier Edition is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.0 litre V8 engine. It will take you from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds) and, if you keep your foot down long enough, up to a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

To aid stability and comfort for everyone onboard, it features Bentley Dynamic Ride, a 48-volt anti-roll system that prevents the cabin from rolling to the left or right when cornering at speed, yet without compromising the smooth ride you expect when cruising in a straight line.

It also benefits from All-Wheel Steering, which gives you a small turning circle when you need a little extra agility in tight spaces, as well as delivering smoother lane changes when driving at speed.



Technology

The car has a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and supports both Apple CarPlay* and Android Auto**, while the My Bentley app enables you to connect to and monitor your car remotely. My Bentley App Studio, meanwhile, enables you to download the apps of your choice and run them directly on the car’s infotainment system, instead of your phone. So if, for example, you are using a navigation app in this way, it will have full access to data from the car, such as fuel and range levels – data that an app running on your phone would not be able to access.

The car comes with the City Specification, which is a package of driver assistance systems that make driving in urban environments easier and safer. It includes numerous features to help you avoid low speed collisions with static objects, other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. It can also help you park – and with the My Bentley app on your phone, you can even step out of the car before the parking manoeuvre begins, and use the app to start the sequence, oversee it and stop when you are happy with its positioning.

The Touring Specification is available as an option, adding a number of assistance systems for easier open-road driving. They include a head-up display, a night vision camera and Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Guidance. This features allows you to take your feet off the pedals on long highway drives, even if the flow of traffic changes speed or slows to a standstill. It will also help you stay in the centre of your lane, prompting you to activate your indicator if you try to change lanes without doing so. Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control allows you to enjoy the same features on many smaller roads, automatically adjusting your speed in response to changing speed limits.

When it comes to comfort, the Bentayga EWB Atelier Edition features heating ventilation and massage functions in every seat, as well as two particularly innovative functions. Seat Auto Climate uses sensors to monitor the humidity and temperature at the seat’s surface, deploying the heating and ventilation functions automatically to keep you comfortable. Postural Adjust, meanwhile, uses air cushions placed inside each seat to vary the pressure on your muscles throughout your journey, helping you to avoid fatigue or stiffness.

Personalisation

While you can choose any exterior colour, six colours have been recommended for the Bentayga EWB Atelier Edition by Bentley’s design team, each one selected to offer a seamless journey from the outside to the inside. They are Quartzite, Porcelain, Rubino, Light Emerald, Obsidian Crystal and Light Onyx – and each one corresponds with an interior colour scheme.

The seats are clad in your choice of primary hide, from Bentley’s entire range of 15 colours. But it is your choice of secondary hide, adorning the top of the dashboard and flowing down into the centre console, that makes the Atelier Edition unique. That’s because you will be selecting one of six colours – Beluga, Burnt Oak, Cricket Ball, Imperial Blue, Gravity Grey and Cumbrian Green – that match the recommended exterior colours. Moreover, those colours are also reflected in the piano veneer colours that are used on the centre console and the picnic tables in the rear. Even the trims surrounding the veneers are painted in matching colours, resulting in a truly harmonious cabin.

To complement these coloured areas, you can choose from Bentley’s existing range of wood and technical veneers for the fascia and the insides of the doors, including Diamond Brushed Aluminium and Carbon Fibre.
